Konoba Nono: A restaurant you must visit

If you ever find yourself passing through Pirovac, don't forget to stop by the newly opened restaurant Nono. Although the facility itself has existed for some time, since last year it has new owners who decided to completely renovate the restaurant and offer their guests something local.

The restaurant is located at Trg Domovinskog rata 5, and its opening hours are from 17:00 to 24:00, which is perfect for a casual dinner after a day spent swimming or sunbathing. The restaurant has two charming outdoor terraces, ideal for enjoying a meal in the fresh air.

By the way, Konoba Nono won the award for the best newly opened restaurant on the Adriatic last year, which is just one of the indicators of its exceptional quality. The central figure of this restaurant is Julija, co-owner of Konoba Nono, who is the real soul of this charming place. Her passion for local gastronomy and love for this place can be felt in every corner of the tavern. Together with her team, Julija makes sure that every guest has a special experience, from a warm welcome to carefully prepared dishes that reflect the best of local cuisine. Known for her warmth and dedication, Julija stands out for her attention to detail, ensuring that every meal is memorable.

The menu at Konoba Nono is simple in its offer but very complicated in its execution. You can choose just a few dishes that are prepared with great care and showcase the best of local ingredients and traditional recipes. We decided to skip the appetizers and after the aperitif, start immediately with the main dishes. Here's what we ate.

Gnocchi tingul with slow-cooked rooster are the highlight of the local cuisine. Gnocchi are prepared with the blackness of cuttlefish and their shape resembles Istrian fuži, although they are not hollow. The whole dish is complemented by slowly cooked rooster that melts in your mouth. Everything was seasoned to perfection making this dish a comforting start to our meal that replaced the appetizer.

For all seafood lovers, the tuna steak with chard sauce, puree and a sprinkling of fried hazelnuts was one of the highlights of the evening. The Adriatic tuna was cooked perfectly medium with a juicy interior. The chard sauce added a nice, slightly bitter contrast, while the hazelnut sprinkle provided a nice crunch, making each bite a harmonious combination of textures and flavors.

Meat lovers will also appreciate their steak with fries and green pepper sauce. The steak was cooked medium like the tuna and paired perfectly with the crispy fries and strong green pepper sauce. Every bite was juicy and delicious, leaving us completely satisfied.

At the very end, tagliatelle with prawns and shrimps was the perfect choice for pasta lovers. The tagliatelle were cooked al dente and generously covered in a delicious sauce, with the meaty prawns adding a sweet, salty note that balanced the whole dish nicely.

Although we didn't have the chance to try their famous tuna tartar and eggplant "dip", we heard from the friendly staff that these are must-have specialties of the restaurant, so we definitely plan to try them on our next visit.

For dessert, we chose cannoli with a filling of figs and almond crumbs. This classic Italian dessert, recognizable by its crispy outer dough, was filled with a rich, creamy fig filling, which provided sweetness and depth of flavor. The almond crumbs added a nice, crunchy contrast, creating a great balance between the juicy interior and the crunchy crust. A light creamy sauce together with a dough that looks like a sea sponge were elegant additions to this summer dessert. Ideal for all dessert lovers who are looking for something special and different.
