Often referred to as the "Pearl of the Adriatic," Opatija offers a unique combination of old-world charm and modern elegance, making it a must-see destination for those exploring Croatia's northern coast.

The history of Opatija dates back to the 19th century when it became a summer resort for the Austro-Hungarian elite. The city's well-preserved architecture reflects that period, with stately mansions and elegant hotels along the coast. These are our recommendations to see the next time you visit Opatija.

Park Angiolina

One of the most famous landmarks is Villa Angiolina, built in 1844, which today hosts the Croatian Museum of Tourism. The villa's beautiful gardens are perfect for a leisurely stroll, providing an insight into the city's opulent past. Park Angiolina is one of the most beautiful places in Opatija, a favorite among local residents and tourists. The spacious park, located in the very heart of the city, is full of exotic plants and flowers brought by sailors from all over the world. The paths of the park are perfect for relaxing walks, and there are many historical monuments and fountains in the park that further enrich this wonderful place.
