Legendary Berlin collective Jazzanova plays at Peti Kupe

They never stick to one particular scene or sound, never follow one particular technique or format. They acted as a DJ collective, a production company, a prolific remix team, radio programmers and presenters, label owners and curators. They are Jazzanova. This legendary collective arrives in a live edition on April 10 in Peti Kupe!

From the first moment they came together as a DJ group in 1995, there was no template for what Jazzanova would become. At each stage, they had to make up new rules and instead of a classic group, they became an entity in a constant state of flux. Since their debut album in 2002, they have offered a great mix of radical experimentation and classic sounds. All this is garnished by their remixing, curating, DJing and live performances.

Constantly in the studio, remixing and producing, they built relationships with other musicians, touching on neo-soul, broken beat, nu jazz, deep house and all sorts of other wonderful sounds, without being bound by any one genre. Among the famous names they have collaborated with are Dixon, Âme, Henrik Schwarz, Ian Pooley, Carl Craig, Incognito, 4Hero and Masters at Work.

At the concerts they promote the album In Between Revisited, a live tribute to their debut album In Between from 2002. It was a watershed moment not only for Jazzanova but also for the growing sound that combined jazz, soul, electronica and broken beat.

Helping them create such a sound at Peti Kupe will be Wayne Snow, a Nigerian artist based in Berlin. This musician, with undeniable warmth, gives a contemporary take on the sunny vibes from his homeland with neo-soul, alternative pop, soultronic and jazz.

The evening will be concluded by Daniel Best, a member of the Jazzanova collective and a DJ with over two decades of experience behind the counter, combining jazz, soul, reggae, rare groove, disco, house and other sounds.
