You must have heard of La Galera and you had the opportunity to read more in our review of their sampler of 10 cigars. Anemoi Eurus, together with Imperial Jade, are the only cigars from the sampler that are very easily recognizable. Eurus especially for the color and texture of the wrapper, which has interesting protrusions characteristic of Broadleaf and Cameroon wrappers. At first, the cigar stands out. Not only for its unique thematic inspiration and connection with Greece, but also for its outstanding craftsmanship and feel in the hand. This cigar, part of the Anemoi series, is named after the Greek gods of the wind, Eurus referring to the east wind, which plays a key role in the agricultural processes of growing tobacco. East winds help regulate moisture in tobacco fields, reducing the risk of disease and creating optimal conditions for growing high-quality tobacco.
La Galera Anemoi Eurus
This cigar is wrapped in Connecticut Broadleaf tobacco, known for its dark, slightly oily texture, which gives the cigar a rustic and robust appearance. The wrapper is visually striking and key to the flavor profile, providing a rich, earthy base to the cigar. Beneath the wrapper is a Dominican Corojo binder leaf, grown in the Jacagua region, which adds a spicy note to the cigar. The filling is made up of a carefully selected blend of Dominican Piloto Cubano, Criollo 98 from Potrero and another Criollo 98 from La Canela, each contributing different notes that blend into a balanced smoking experience.
Visually, Eurus is a true work of art. The main band features a design that reflects the mythological themes of the Anemoi series and includes images of the Dominican Republic, highlighting the cigar's origins. It is decorated with a palette of blue, pale yellow and silver colors. The secondary band, unique to Eurus, uses Greek script to further emphasize the cigar's mythological inspiration.
After cutting, the cold draw reveals strong notes of earth and coffee. Although there is no significant sweetness at this stage, the cold draw is quite rich in flavors. The aroma from the lower part of the cigar also highlights ripe tobacco and a slight spiciness.
When lit, Eurus immediately stands out as a peppery cigar. The first few pulls bring a mix of chocolate and spice. The chocolate notes are particularly pronounced, and the pepper spices bring a subtle warmth, which is felt throughout the smoking session.

As the cigar progresses through the first third, the chocolate notes begin to change, losing some of their initial sweetness and allowing the pepper to take center stage. The retrohale at this stage is particularly interesting, with an extra layer of pepper that adds a spicy kick.
The second third of the cigar brings notes of coffee that become more pronounced. Chocolate has now slowly disappeared, receding into the background. The pepper also becomes more prominent, adding a spiciness that heightens the cigar's complexity without overwhelming the palate.
La Galera Anemoi Eurus
What is particularly noteworthy at this stage is the cigar's ability to maintain a clear distinction between the coffee and chocolate notes. While these flavors often blend into a single profile, Anemoi Eurus manages to keep them separate, allowing each to shine. This separation of flavors shows the skill involved in mixing it.

The draw and burn at this stage is nearly flawless, with a slight drag that many cigar smokers find desirable. The ash remains firm and light gray, which further indicates the excellent craftsmanship of the cigar. The smoke output is abundant. The first fall of ash is after approx. 30 minutes.
As the cigar enters its final third, it remains consistent with notes of pepper and coffee. Chocolate and that initial sweetness is still present, but very discreetly. The spice dominates and is particularly felt on the lips. The nub remains firm and cool to the touch, allowing the cigar to be enjoyed to the very end.
La Galera Anemoi Eurus
In terms of strength and body, La Galera Eurus is classified as a medium to full bodied cigar. It starts off with a medium to full strength, gradually increasing as you progress through the cigar. However, the increase in strength is measured, never becoming too much, but in the very ends you feel the strength, which can be too strong for the beginning smoker.
From the moment it's lit to the final drag, the cigar performs beautifully. The burn line is sharp, maintaining an even burn without the need for re-ignition. Definitely a cigar for all lovers who prefer medium-body and want to switch to medium-full. Rating 9/10.
