Have you heard of the "Blue Moon"? It is a specific type of full moon and can have two different meanings, depending on the context:
1. Seasonal "Blue Moon" occurs when there are four full moons in one season (usually three). The third full moon in that season is called the "Blue Moon".
2. The calendar "Blue Moon" appears when there are two full moons in one calendar month. The second full moon is called the "Blue Moon".
What is the link with Omega and Swatch?
On August 1st, in another collaboration with Omega, Swatch launched a limited collection called MISSION TO THE SUPER BLUE MOONPHASE. Celebrating the summer season and the aforementioned rare "Blue Moon" that will occur on August 19, 2024, this chronograph is a true example of complication when it comes to watches.

Namely, the watch has a blue bioceramic case, together with the crown and buttons, and contains a VELCRO® strap with contrasting light blue stitching, which gives it a striking and harmonious look. Although many compare the entire collaboration between Omega and Swatch to children's toys, these watches are far from that, especially this limited collection. What's the difference? In addition to having the aforementioned unique blue bioceramic bezel with heart rate monitor, this version also features a moon phase complication, which sets it apart from other models in the MoonSwatch collection.

As the Moon completes its orbit around the Earth, it displays a series of different shapes known as the phases of the moon. There are a total of eight phases that we observe during the lunar cycle, and watches equipped with a moon phase indicator are designed to accurately display these phases. When illuminated under UV light, hidden details are revealed on the moon phase mask and on the watch's battery cover.

That's all?
Not really. Namely, this exclusive piece will only be available from August 1 to August 19, 2024, and only after 5 p.m. at selected Swatch retail locations around the world, which further increases its appeal and rarity. This model looks very similar to the most popular and sought-after watch from the entire Mission to the Moon collection, the Neptune model. The watch was popularized by Daniel Craig, who plays the British secret agent James Bond. Craig's support and association with this model further emphasized the status of the watch as a collector's item, which is why these models are sold on the secondary market with prices of over 2,000.00 EUR.
